The best water filter jugs for obtaining the purest water to fulfill your need

Best Water Filter Jugs 2023: Water Filter For Home to Beat Limescale and Remove Impurities
Water Filter For Home to Beat Limescale and Remove Impurities

If you live somewhere where tap water is safe to drink, the best water filter jug may not be necessary. Water filter jugs, on the other hand, are still incredibly useful if you want to eliminate limescale and have better-tasting water – and beverages produced from hot or cold water.

I'm sure we can all agree that buying bottled water makes us feel like we're being taken advantage of. Why should we pay for something that we are fortunate enough to have on hand? Unfortunately, the flavour and quality of our tap water differ depending on where you live. It's as pure as it gets in certain places, and it's delightfully cold.

However, it can leave an unpleasant metallic taste in your mouth in some hard water places and areas where the water is fluoridated, which is not everyone's cup of tea. Even if you can handle it, having to descale your kettle or coffee maker on a daily basis isn't anyone's idea of a good time.

The 'Traffic light' system for filter changes is not very visible to colour-blind people

This is all you need if your tap water is safe but hard and unappealing. While Brita's Maxtra+ filter does not remove heavy metals or industrial effluent from your water like the ZeroWater below, it does significantly minimise limescale deposits on your kettle, coffee maker, and teapot. It also ensures that the water tastes better, which means that your tea, coffee, and other beverages will taste better as well.

Filters are easy to find online and in supermarkets, and thanks to a traffic light system, you'll always know when to replace them. This indicates green for all systems go, amber for 'you need to replace soon,' and red for seriously, now you really need to change it' based on a motion sensor that knows how many times you've poured water from the jug. This is crucial not only because Brita wants to sell you more filters – which they obviously do – but also because worn-out filters are not only inefficient but also potentially harmful since they can begin to harbour mould and bacteria. Water Filter For Home

The only issue I noticed with this system is that colour-blind persons can't always distinguish which traffic light is flashing because the hues of green, red, and amber used by Brita aren't distinct enough.

Expensive filters

ZeroWater claims to be the only water filtration brand that can give the pure bottled water experience in the comfort of your own home. To do this, the ZeroWater jugs use a 5-stage filtration system, and the jug comes with a TSD (total dissolved solids) meter, which you can use to test your water before and after it's been filtered.

So, how well does it work? Yes. We tested two tap water samples, one with a 270PPM (parts per million) reading and the other with a 280PPM reading, and after putting them through the ZeroWater system, both samples had a zero reading. Then, in two separate Brita jugs, we filtered water with a 280PPM reading and obtained readings of 222PPM and 171PPM.

It's a personal option whether you desire such pure drinking water. If you do, the ZeroWater is the best solution for you, but it comes at a price: replacement filters cost £19.99 each (although you can bring that price down if you buy the filters in packs). It's also worth noting that the dissolved particles left behind by the Brita (as well as those found in bottled mineral waters) are completely harmless.

Deceptively small

The Brita Marella XL Water Filter Jug is a dependable brand and one of the best water purifier jugs for the fridge because of its size and form. However, the size is a little misleading, as the total capacity is 3.5 litres, but the filtered water capacity is just 2 litres. This water purifier uses Brita MAXTRA filters, which, despite their high cost, effectively remove chlorine, limescale, and other contaminants from your water. Water Filter For Home

OTT for most homes

Okay, this might seem a little excessive, but this water filtration system is intended for folks who require long-term solutions. This industrial alternative can filter even the dirtiest water from rivers, ponds, and foreign water supplies if you live in a region where the water is unsafe to drink or you don't have access to tap water. We understand if you don't want to tote it, but it can come in handy if you're going camping for an extended period of time. If you really need pure water, its filters only need to be changed every 22,700 Litres, so it's not a big deal. Water Filter For Home

This water bottle is a terrific alternative to carrying a bottle of water in the vehicle or to the gym while you're on the go. The BRITA Fill and Go will save you money on bottled water every day, and filters can be purchased in bulk for a reasonable price, but they must be replaced once a week for the best-tasting water. For the impatient, these bottles filter as you drink, so you don't have to waste time waiting for your thirst to be quenched. Water Filter For Home

A bit of a fad

If you despise anything mainstream, you might not enjoy this. But, since everyone is raving about the benefits of activated charcoal these days, we just had to include it! It's been used in facemasks, and toothpaste, and is currently being used to filter water as well! It removes undesirable tastes and contaminants in the same way as any other filter, but the charcoal lasts longer (up to 3 months) than a normal filter. If you enjoy the idea of the BRITA Fill & Go but don't want to spend a fortune on cartridges every week, this charcoal water filter is the way to go. Water Filter For Home

Takes ages to fill up

This water purifier jug has no frills but does exactly what it says on the tin while also serving as a unique kitchen decoration. It may appear attractive, but it lacks a water chamber, which means it takes a long time to fill. This jug is a low-cost addition to your kitchen if you care more about appearances than optimal functionality. Water Filter For Home
