Best Fitness Tracker 2022: Best Fitness Tracker to Help You Get Fit and Stay Fit

What are the best fitness tracker and fitness bands? Fitbit is most likely the manufacturer, and you may locate it here.

Best Fitness Tracker 2022: Best Fitness Tracker to Help You Get Fit and Stay Fit
The Best Fitness Trackers for 2022

The best fitness tracker used to be a hotly debated topic, but currently, it's all about Garmin trying to unseat Fitbit's market supremacy, while most consumers opt for the best running watch or smartwatch instead. Even the cheapest fitness bands nowadays usually come with optical heart rate sensors, GPS, and nice companion applications, so they're still worth looking into. Best Smartwatch 2022

The best fitness trackers are also the most cost-effective. The Fitbit Charge 4, for example, is a quarter the price of an Apple Watch 6, but it has built-in GPS, an optical heart rate sensor, and automatically records steps, sleep, and activities, to name a few major features. Fitness trackers will suffice for everyday health and fitness tracking. Best Fitness Tracker

BEST FITNESS TRACKERS TO BUY IN 2022

1. FITBIT CHARGE 5

Best fitness tracker overall

SPECIFICATIONS
Battery life: up to 7 days
Wrist heart rate: Yes
GPS: Yes, built-in
REASONS TO BUY
+
AMOLED screen
+
6-month Fitbit Premium subscription included in the price
+
Excellent sleep tracking capabilities
+
Infinity BAnd is comfortable to wear 24/7
REASONS TO AVOID
-
HR tracking/GPS issues
-
Expensive

The Fitbit Charge 5 is a decent update over the Charge 4, and the AMOLED screen is very handsome. The Infinity Band has been upgraded to be more comfortable to wear when exercising and sleeping. The whole user experience is also excellent; Fitbit has figured out how to make a usable fitness wearable at this point.

The Daily Readiness Score is a welcome feature, and Charge 5's ability to measure ECG is the cherry on top. However, the Fitbit Charge 5's GPS and HR monitoring may be more seamless: depending on the position of the GPS antenna, the Fitbit Charge 5 can precisely track position or measure heart rate. The two features will not complement one other. Best Fitness Tracker

Not to mention that the Charge 5 costs the same as more precise starter running watches like the Garmin Forerunner 55 or the Coros Pace 2 at RRP. Thankfully, good Fitbit Charge 5 bargains are already available online, and if you discover one, getting a Charge 5 today is a no-brainer. Best Fitness Tracker 2022

2. HUAWEI WATCH FIT ELEGANT

Premium cheap fitness tracker

SPECIFICATIONS
Battery life: up to 10 days
Wrist heart rate: Yes
GPS: Yes, built-in
REASONS TO BUY
+
Beautiful AMOLED display
+
Quality materials
+
Loads of personalisation options in the app
+

REASONS TO AVOID
-
GPS takes forever to get going
-
Heart rate tracking could be more accurate

The Huawei Watch Fit Elegant is the most attractive fitness tracker currently available. It's a more upscale version of the Huawei Watch Fit, and they're both powered by the same software.

The main difference is the fitness tracker's physical appearance; unlike the Watch Fit, the Watch Fit Elegant has a polished stainless steel case and a "fluoroelastomer" strap, which feels like the nicest sort of soft silicone band. The Watch Fit Elegant is significantly heavier due to the stainless steel case, weighing in at 27 grams (without the strap). Best Fitness Tracker

Animations and screen transitions appear amazing on the 1.64-inch AMOLED display, which offers a 456 x 280 (HD) resolution. It also contains an ambient light sensor, which dims the screen in low-light conditions. The Fitbit Charge 4 features a 1-inch screen in comparison. This was increased to 1.04-inch on the Charge 5. Impressive!

The Huawei Watch Fit Elegant's battery life is great, despite the rather large screen. Even with heavy use, the fitness tracker will only need to be charged once a week. As expected, GPS monitoring depletes battery life: a fully charged Watch Fit Elegant can only track 12 hours of outdoor activity. Best Fitness Tracker 2022

It's hit-or-miss when it comes to activity tracking. The Watch Fit Elegant contains an optical heart rate sensor and a built-in GPS, but the GPS is slow and heart rate tracking is inconsistent. It's adequate for everyday tracking, but don't expect it to take your running training to the next level. Best Fitness Tracker

3. GARMIN VENU 2

Best premium fitness tracker

SPECIFICATIONS
Battery life: up to 6 days
Wrist hear rate: Yes
GPS: Yes, built-in
REASONS TO BUY
+
Great battery life
+
Large AMOLED screen
+
New Elevate sensor seems to work well
+
Touch controls work seamlessly
REASONS TO AVOID
-
Muscle Map feature is not super useful
-
You're supposed to wear it 24/7 for the algorithm to work accurately
-
Comparatively expensive

The Garmin Venu 2's AMOLED screen really brings the Garmin OS widget view to life, especially the animations when you reach new milestones like your daily step targets. I'm not typically a fan of touchscreen wearables, but I'll make an exception for the Venu 2 because it performs admirably in this situation. Best Fitness Tracker 2022

Not all of the new capabilities are groundbreaking, but some of them are intriguing, especially given that they were added on top of existing features present in previous Garmin wearables, of which there were plenty. You can't really complain when you get more bang for your buck.

In terms of price, the Garmin Venu 2 is not a cheap tracker/smartwatch, but it is significantly less expensive than certain other smartwatches that are less powerful than the Venu 2.

If you don't want a dedicated sports wearable wrapped around your wrist and prefer a good-looking smartwatch with essential health and fitness functions, the Garmin Venu 2 is a must-try. It'll undoubtedly be my primary fitness smartwatch from now on. Best Fitness Tracker

4. FITBIT CHARGE 4

Best last-gen fitness tracker

SPECIFICATIONS
Battery life: 7 days
Wrist heart rate: Yes
GPS: Yes, built-in
REASONS TO BUY
+
GPS and Active Zone Minutes give it a more serious air than previous Fitbits
+
Good for multiple sports
+
Decent heart-rate tracking
REASONS TO AVOID
-
Mildly annoying capacitive 'button'
-
Small screen

Runs, rides, hikes, even egg-and-spoon races can all be tracked with the Fitbit Charge 4. Once you figure out the optimal position to wear it – usually a little higher up the arm than you'd imagine – the heart rate tracking isn't horrible.

The Active Zone Minutes function calculates a daily and weekly score for activities other than walking. It awards one point for each minute spent in the 'fat burn' zone and two points for each minute spent in the 'cardio' and 'peak' zones, which are more intense. As a result, the more time and effort you put into your workout, the more points you will get. Best Fitness Tracker

If you're interested in sleep tracking, the Charge 4 has plenty of options. With a Fitbit Premium account, you can see a full breakdown of how long you spent in each stage of slumber, from light to deep to REM to, er, awake. That's great. (If that's your top goal, check out our best sleep tracker guide for more information.) Best Fitness Tracker 2022

5. POLAR IGNITE

Best fitness tracker for runners

SPECIFICATIONS
Battery life: up to 5 days
Wrist heart rate: Yes
GPS: Built-in
REASONS TO BUY
+
Integrated GPS
+
Useful sleep and training insights
REASONS TO AVOID
-
No NFC or music storage
-
Feel a bit too plasticky

The Polar Ignite is a fantastic fitness tracker that is primarily designed for runners, but it can also be used to track a variety of other sports such as backcountry skiing and fitness dance. It can track your activities as well as monitor your sleep and maintain track of your heart rate throughout the day.

When you go for an outside run, you don't need to bring your phone with you because of the built-in GPS. It's as simple as pushing the side button and tapping the icon of the preferred activity to start working out; it shouldn't take you more than two seconds.

Although wrist-based HR monitors aren't the most precise, the Polar Ignite does a fair job of estimating your heart rate depending on your fitness levels, age, sex, and other factors. With the 'Fitness Test' feature, it can also measure VO2 Max.

For most dedicated amateurs, who this fitness watch was built for, the parameters recorded by the Polar Ignite are more than enough. Not only does it display metrics on the watch face once the workout is completed and synchronised with the Polar Flow app, but it also allows you to analyse your training in greater depth.

The Polar Ignite may also be used to track your sleep. The only problem is that wearing a fitness tracker'snugly' is not pleasant in the long run, which is something that all fitness trackers have in common. Best Fitness Tracker 2022

The Polar Ignite isn't the cheapest tracker on this list, but for the features it offers, it's a good investment.

6. WITHINGS SCANWATCH

The hybrid fitness tracker with ECG

SPECIFICATIONS
Battery life: 30 days
Heart-rate monitoring: Yes
GPS: Connected
REASONS TO BUY
+
Premium feel
+
Multi-wavelength PPG sensor (heart rate/SpO2 sensor/breathing disturbances)
+
Sapphire glass lens
+
Long battery life
REASONS TO AVOID
-
Automatic activity and sleep detection is a bit off
-
Sensor accuracy could be improved

The Withings ScanWatch's ECG and sleep disturbance sensors are accurate enough to get CE certification in the EU, so one can hope they are accurate. If necessary, the ECG values can be exported as a PDF and transmitted to doctors.

The ScanWatch can rate your sleep and give you a Sleep Score via the Health Mate app, similar to how the new Fitbit Sense can give you a Stress Score. Both devices essentially turn health into a game, with the goal of making complex health metrics more consumable for regular people.

The Withings ScanWatch isn't perfect: the automatic activity recognition mistook driving a car for cycling and sitting on the couch for napping on a handful of occasions. We believe that the more individuals who wear the watch and manually correct errors, the more precise the system will become. Best Fitness Tracker 2022

Even if you don't have any heart or sleep difficulties, the Withings ScanWatch could be the right wristwatch for you if you loathe the Fitbit Sense's futuristic style and prefer a smartwatch with a more timeless design wrapped around your wrist. Best Fitness Tracker The Vivo Watch 2

7. GARMIN VENU SQ

Best cheap Garmin fitness tracker

SPECIFICATIONS
Battery life: up to 6 days
Wrist heart rate: Yes
GPS: Yes, built-in
REASONS TO BUY
+
Built-in GPS and optical heart rate sensor
+
'Liquid crystal' display with optional always-on mode
+
Good GPS battery life (14 hours)
REASONS TO AVOID
-
Display in comparatively small

The Garmin Venu Sq is a decent fitness smartwatch for the money. To keep the price low, certain corners have been taken, but nothing truly detracts from the overall experience.

Although the "liquid crystal" display is modest, it is snappy and bright. The sensors are precise, and they employ Garmin's algorithm, which has been proven to provide reliable readings, particularly during high-heart-rate workout sessions.

People who have used Garmin watches before will be familiar with the Venu Sq's interface, but even if you haven't, you can rest confident that you won't get lost in strange options. Best Fitness Tracker 2022

Despite its reduced price, the Venu Sq comes with a number of high-end functions, including built-in GPS, blood oxygen/stress monitoring, and sleep tracking. And it does so with a high degree of precision. Best Fitness Tracker

8. HUAWEI BAND 6

Best cheap fitness tracker with a huge AMOLED screen

SPECIFICATIONS
Battery life: up to two weeks
Wrist heart rate: Yes
GPS: Yes, connected
REASONS TO BUY
+
Funky watch faces
+
Beautiful AMOLED display
+
Long battery life
+
Plenty of health and wellness features on board
REASONS TO AVOID
-
Only connected GPS

The Huawei Band 6's finest feature is that it isn't trying to be a smartwatch or a running watch. Instead, the Huawei Band 6 tries its hardest to be the best fitness tracker it can be, and it succeeds. Sure, it's smaller and more band-like than full-fledged multisport watches, but when compared to other fitness trackers, the Band 6's best features truly set it apart.

Its TruSeen 4.0 heart rate monitoring technology, which "uses an optical lens and AI-based data processing" to offer more accurate readings, allows it to track heart rate 24/7, just like big-league smartwatches. The HR measurements aren't as erratic, but wearing the Band 6 correctly is critical to obtaining those numbers right. Best Fitness Tracker 2022

Other sensor-based capabilities include TruSleep 2.0 Sleep Tracking: the Huawei Band 6's sleep tracking appears to be precise enough, not to mention the Huawei Health app's robust sleep analysis section. If you use the band for sleeping more than twice a week, TruSleep can even provide you with personalised sleep reports. Fossil Gen 6 Smartwatch

The battery life is adequate, but not exceptional. The lack of integrated GPS aids battery life; this work is delegated to the smartphone, which you must have with you if you want the Band 6 to draw a map of your runs in the Huawei Health app after your sessions.

When it comes to running, the Huawei Band 6 features 96 workout options, can measure VO2 max, recommend recuperation time, and provide performance numbers and training effect estimates, which isn't bad for a fitness tracker. During our test runs, Band 6 showed no significant changes in heart rate or pace measurements, which is basically all we can expect from a fitness band. Best Fitness Tracker

9. NURVV RUN INSOLES

Smart running insoles with built-in GPS

SPECIFICATIONS
Battery life: up to 5 hours
Wrist heart rate: N/A
GPS: Built-in
REASONS TO BUY
+
Provides excellent running metrics
+
Footstrike Coach is very useful if you suffer from over- or under pronation
+
Built-in GPS
+
Doubles up as a fitness tracker
REASONS TO AVOID
-
Expensive
-
Physical hardware is a bit fiddly to operate

The NURVV Run insoles aren't like other fitness trackers you've seen on the market. I'd recommend it mostly to runners - after all, it's a running insole – since it can provide some fascinating new metrics for runners that they could previously only verify by attending a running gait analysis session. The NURVV Run sensors make these data sets available for every run, every day, and they not only make it available, but they also quantify and score it to make it easier to understand. Best Fitness Tracker 2022

However, this data isn't cheap: the insoles cost nearly the same as a Garmin Forerunner 245, and for some, a Garmin watch is still a more dependable source of data. However, thanks to regular app upgrades, the NURVV run is getting closer, and runners will soon have to choose between the NURVV and a running watch. Not to mention that you can already connect a heart rate monitor to the NURVV pods and send heart rate data directly into the NURVV App, effectively replacing a running watch with the combination of the two.

Not only that, but the NURVV Run system can provide statistics that no running watch can (potentially) provide, such as pronation and footstrike, and suggest ways to enhance them if you want to. That said, like with other fitness devices, all data supplied to athletes should be regarded as a suggestion at most, rather than scripture. If the app suggests that you run more, but you don't feel like it, you shouldn't do it.

The technology, particularly the pods/cradle system, may be improved, as the current version appears to be fairly brittle. Thankfully, NURVV is quite hands-on with all of this, and customer service personnel are happy to assist if you have any hardware or software concerns. Best Fitness Tracker

10. FITBIT VERSA 3

The best fitness tracker/smartwatch hybrid

SPECIFICATIONS
Battery life: 6+ days
Wrist heart-rate: Yes
GPS: Yes, built-in
REASONS TO BUY
+
Excellent app
+
Choose from two voice assistants
+
Active Zone Minutes
+
SpO2 sensor
REASONS TO AVOID
-
There is a tiny bit of screen lag
-
'Inductive' button is not perfect by any means
-
Heart rate and GPS accuracy could be improved still

The Fitbit Versa 3 is a fun fitness smartwatch to use. It has more features and a more attractive design than most fitness trackers, but it isn't quite as clever or precise as the Apple Watch Series 5. However, that comparison may not be fair, as the Fitbit Versa 3 offers superior features for a fraction of the price of the Apple Watch 5.

Fitbit's Versa 3 is a well-rounded device that has built-in GPS, an in-app workout intensity map, a PurePulse 2.0 optical heart rate sensor, and the Active Zone Minutes feature, which tracks your fitness activities even when you aren't actively tracking workouts. Although the built-in GPS and heart rate sensor could be more accurate, they are more than suitable for ordinary sporting activities. Best Fitness Tracker 2022

The Fitbit Versa 3 also features a built-in speaker and microphone, allowing you to make fast phone calls, send calls to voicemail, and adjust call volume all from the palm of your hand – though you'll appear like a special agent if you know what I mean. Best Fitness Tracker

Given the asking price, the Fitbit Versa 3 is an excellent purchase. Even if you currently have a Versa 2, we recommend acquiring one if you discover one for a cheap price - which will definitely happen sooner or later.

11. FITBIT INSPIRE 2

Dainty Fitbit fitness tracker with long battery life

GPS: Connected
REASONS TO BUY
+
Long battery life
+
Free 1-year Fitbit Premium membership included
+
Active Zone Minutes
+
Sleep tracking
REASONS TO AVOID
-
Does lack some more advanced features
-
No GPS

The Fitbit Inspire 2 was released at the same time as the Fitbit Sense and Fitbit Versa 3 and received little attention, despite the fact that it deserved more. This inexpensive fitness tracker includes an optical heart rate sensor as well as Fitbit Active Zone Minutes and SmartTrack.

A one-year Fitbit Premium membership is also included in the price, which would normally cost more than the fitness tracker. When you subscribe to Fitbit Premium, you can use the Inspire 2 as a free fitness tracker. That is a free fitness tracker with an OLED screen. Best Fitness Tracker 2022

The Fitbit Inspire 2 also has a long battery life: it can last 'up to' 10 days between charges, and because it uses linked GPS, tracking activities outside won't drain the battery any faster (you will need to carry the phone with you, though). The Inspire 2 also makes full use of the great Fitbit App, which allows you to create goals, check sleep statistics, and more. Best Fitness Tracker

12. WHOOP 4.0

Best fitness tracker for athletes

SPECIFICATIONS
Battery life: up to 5 days
Wrist hear rate: Yes
GPS: No
REASONS TO BUY
+
Comfortable enough to wear 24/7
+
Tracks heart rate and strain accurately
+
Sleep tracking is excellent
+
Health Monitor overview is useful and easy to understand
REASONS TO AVOID
-
Doesn’t track basic stats (e.g. steps)
-
Membership costs can stack up
-
Not the most precise when worn on the wrist

The Whoop 4.0 is a great fitness tracker for folks who like to work out hard and want to know when it's time to take a break. It might also be useful for folks who are curious about how well their bodies recover from day-to-day stress.

I'd be shocked if those who are only mildly interested in their performance are willing to pay the monthly fee to gain access to their data. The cost of Whoop membership can build up over time, and you'll have to pay the monthly charge even if you're not utilising the band.

I, for one, had a lot of fun with the Whoop 4.0 band and enjoyed keeping track of my Strain Score. If you enjoy sports and fitness, Whoop 4.0 can assist you in finding the right balance of rest and training. Best Fitness Tracker Just Corseca Snugar और Slingshot Smartwatches

13. GARMIN VIVOFIT JR 3

Best fitness tracker for kids

SPECIFICATIONS
Battery life: '1+ years'
Heart-rate monitoring: No
GPS: No
REASONS TO BUY
+
Looks like a ‘real’ watch
+
'Gamifies' exercise
+
Long battery life
REASONS TO AVOID
-
Dark screen
-
Quite pricey

The Garmin Vivofit Jr 3 is priced and features-wise in the middle of the market, and it does everything well. Although the screen is bright and colourful, it is also dark and difficult to read in dim light.

The watch has a lot of capabilities but no touchscreen. It's well-made and looks well, but it's not as elegant as the Fitbit or as striking as Vodafone's Neo, for example. In sum, it lacks the 'wow factor,' and for gadget aficionados, it may be a touch middle of the road. Best Fitness Tracker

If you have a youngster who likes Marvel or Disney, or if you despise charging electronics, this watch will be a big hit, and, like Iron Man, will outperform the competition.

The amount of crap you'll have to load on your phone to use the Fit2 is absurd.

The Samsung Galaxy Fit2 doesn't stand a chance in a crowded sector like fitness trackers. The Fit2 is a decent fitness tracker with a nice AMOLED screen, automated recognition of five different exercises, sleep tracking, and a long battery life. Best Fitness Tracker

Not to mention the inconvenient software update reminders that arise out of nowhere when the phone is unlocked. Who, for example, enabled the Samsung app to annoy customers with these updates without their permission? Best Fitness Tracker 2022

Aside from phone concerns, the Samsung Galaxy Fit2's major flaw is that there are cheaper and more capable fitness bands on the market today from recognised brands like Huawei, to name a few. These bands include more features (such as built-in GPS) and superior specifications for a lower price. The Fit2 is solely suggested for Samsung brand loyalists who can't imagine wearing anything other than a Samsung fitness tracker.

FITNESS TRACKERS: WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

So, while walking 10,000 steps per day is preferable to none, it won't turn you into Sir Mo Farah.

Tracking your sleep may provide some intriguing information, but it is unlikely to improve your sleep. I've tried to compensate for these flaws by focusing on bands that try to be more than step counters.

During severe exercise, fitness trackers have problems accurately measuring how many calories you've burned, how far you've travelled, and what your heart rate is. Best Fitness Tracker

Worst of all, most older fitness trackers made no attempt to inform you how to fit you are or suggest strategies to improve your fitness. Brands are now taking notice, primarily through calculating your VO2 Max during regular workouts. This offers you a starting point for determining how to fit you are, which can be both satisfying and worrisome depending on where you fall on the scale. Realme Watch 2 Pro

IS FITBIT OR GARMIN BETTER?

We recommend obtaining a Fitbit fitness tracker or smartwatch for people who wish to track their daily fitness activities but don't want to spend a lot of money. Fitbits are often less expensive than Garmin trackers and track fitness numbers with impressive precision. Best Fitness Tracker

Garmin watches can help you train and recover more efficiently than Fitbits if you're getting ready for a race, whether it's a running or cycling competition. When you use a Fitbit activity tracker, you won't be able to access the Garmin ecosystem, which is aimed at athletes and can provide training insights/tips. Best Fitness Tracker 2022
